At the park yesterday evening, Bohdin played store for the first time. His specialty is the $10 ice cream cone, but he also make a mean salad with nuts (also $10). Bohdin might have a career as a comedian storekeep (Nyla sure thought it was funny). After the playground heard how funny it was, most of the other kids came over and played store also. Bohdin started taking requests, and branched out into cheese burgers and cars. Strangely enough the car only costs one dollar, but it looked suspiciously like the wood chip ice cream. I guess you can never trust a car salesman, no matter how young.

Don't get into a pissing contest with a 4 year old unless you like to lose
We went to the playground last night and were soon joined by a 4 year old and her 2 year old sister. This little girl is just over a year older than Bohdin since she will be 5 in October. One thing led to another and soon Bohdin was asking if she could do various things. It started with a jumping contest and then a race. Bohdin is a pretty fast runner but she had a head start. I don't know who would have won in a fair race because Bohdin became pouty when she won and refused to try again. Soon he tried other things to see if she could do it also. Can she jump up onto this log? Can she swing from these bars? Can she go down the slide like this? Being 4 she could easily do all of the things he could and do them better. I couldn't lie so I told him that her jumps were a little higher and she could run a little faster. It must have been a huge ego check since at dinner he announced he could run faster than Uncle Paul and that he could run really run faster than anybody.
I wasn't surprised that he was beat out in all categories by a 4 year old. The biggest surprise to me was the emotional maturity of a 4 year old. Bohdin acted like a 3 year old boy. I had a friend who once said that a 3 year old is still a baby and last night I finally believed her.
On another topic, the comment section has been fixed so it is easier to leave comments. I thought I wouldn't care if I received comments but it turns out I like it very much.

Is it yucky or good?
Bohdin has been obsessed lately asking whether things are yucky or good. Is the chip that was left out yucky or good? What about the juice that has been sitting in the cup? What about the bean he dropped on the floor? And the other bean?
If you think about it there really are some complex rules to what is still yucky or good. A juice box is fine left in the trunk of my car until it is opened and then it has to go in the refrigerator. A snack left in the car while we run into the store can be good or yucky upon return depending on the weather. I let him eat things he has dropped on the floor at home but not at the store. Then there is just individual variation. If you leave a pizza out all night is it yucky or good? Yucky in my mind but others would disagree.

Beginning of payback
Bohdin has been tormenting Nyla for months. We're waiting for the time that Nyla will get him back for all he's done. Today in the stroller she started figuring it out when she kicked his leg with hers. Of course I thought it was funny since it's the first time. I'm sure by the hundredth time it will be annoying and by the millionth time I will be looking for new parents for the two of them.
Listen for Nyla's laugh in the video. That is an ominous sign.

Magic Words
I'm not sure which tv show he picked it up from but Bohdin makes me say the magic words when I need to get by the pillow gate he makes. The magic words are: Please. Red light green light. Silver light blue light. Black light brown light. Book Book. Train train. Leaf Leaf. Stick stick stick.
I need to say the entire thing to get through the gate and there are two gates. He keeps adding on new words to the end. I feel like I'm playing a game of memory and losing. One more addition may be the breaking point for me. He does like to play though so Nyla and I go through the gates a few times.

Hats
The outfits I've been making for Nyla have been going pretty well. You can see them in these 2 pictures. I decided matching hats would be really cute. Unforunately that has not been going so well. They are way too big. In addition, Nyla is a typical hat hating baby. Maybe when she is 3 she'll be able to wear them. I haven't finished the blue ones as you can see from the threads popping out all over.

Park
We went to a local playground/farm today which is relatively near us. They charge a $5 admission fee which I thought was ridiculous. A military id gets you in free though. There was a nice big playground. A very short walk away are some barns and animal pens. We were able to see goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, and cows. The area is for local 4H kids to house their animals. I thought it was a great community resource. There are also garden plots available for lease. We had thought briefly about doing that but this is not the year. It's a little too far and inconvenient right now.

It's a start!
Hello, and welcome to our blog!
Our purpose here is mainly to share pictures with family and friends, but I'm sure there will be an amusing story or two along the way. We may be among the last of our friends to start, but better late than never. Of course this is mainly to keep Bohdin's and Nyla's grandparents happy, but if your name isn't Nana, Papa, Grandma, or Grandpa; you are welcome anyway.
