Sad

After 14 days in Colorado, it was time to come home. Neither Bohdin nor Nyla were eager to come back. We stopped at play group for one last chance to play and see Tyken. Bohdin would have preferred to just go to Tyken's house so the could play playmobil and escape the heat. Tyken was sweet enough to buy Bohdin some Playmobl people with his very own money. We had to say goodbye eventually and Bohdin was very sad when that time came.

The flight was good. I read to Bohdin while Nyla read to her babies. She came back with two more babies than she left with. One was given to her at the thrift store while it's twin joined us a few days later. Nyla was surprisingly calm and nondemanding for most of the flight. She even let Bohdin have the window seat and sat buckled up for a few minutes during takeoff and landing. Now we need to work on adjusting back to Eastern time. Bohdin woke up just now at 10:14am.

Busy Week

We had a busy week. We went to playgroup on Tuesday where Bohdin and Tyken had a lot of fun. We went to his house the following day where they shared their love of Playmobil. Those two boys are so well suited as friends.

The rest of the week after that was spent getting ready for the reception. I baked and baked and baked. The main course was catered but Paul and Jenn were responsible for the appetizers and desserts so I helped out witht the desserts. Early in the week a cold front came through but by Saturday the weather was glorious. Paul and Jenn really lucked out with the weather. Bohdin wanted to stay until the party was over but Nyla couldn't last that long. Ironically he was the one that fell asleep in the car. Bohdin and Nyla played a bit with the other kids and I had a nice time as a result relaxing and talking to adults. By the time we came home well after 9pm the temperature was still in the 70s. The temperature when we were at playgroup on Tuesday was in the high 40s.

When we were driving back from playgroup Tuesday, Bohdin asked where Paul and Jenn were. I told him they were at work. "I thought they were married. Don't they want to spend time together?" was Bohdin's question.

New Aunt

We left for Breckenridge just after noon on Friday. The mountains looked beautiful with the swatches of yellow aspens and the house we had for the weekend was gorgeous. The small ceremony was Saturday afternoon. Everything was perfect. Except for Nyla who refused to wear a dress and wore pajama bottoms instead. She was also grumpy and clingy for most of the weekend. Welcome Aunt Jenn.

Sunday morning we went fishing. It was chilly at first but it warmed up as the morning progressed. Bohdin caught two pieces of seaweed which he took home with the intention of making sushi. He also helped reel in many of the fish that were caught that day. Paul managed to catch two fish on one casting. Buddy caught two fish but threw the sucker fish back. Bohdin said his favorite part was reeling all the fish in.

It was a fun weekend. Jenn has an awesome family and it was nice to meet them. Jenn's dad and brother spent a lot of time playing a bean bag toss game with Bohdin and kicking a ball around with him. He was really sad to see them go. Nyla didn't interact much with others since she was glued to me. She was also still feeling sick as was I. Bohdin really liked the house we stayed in for several reasons. He liked that it had a bigger porch, more bathrooms, and more doors to go outside. The best part may have come Monday morning when we woke up to a light snow. That is Bohdin's favorite weather so he went outside and enjoyed it.

The worst part may have been Sunday night when he and Nyla were playing on the bed. They were falling backwards onto the bed. At one point Nyla feel on Bohdin. There was a crack when there skulls met. Bohdin threw up afterward which is a sign of a head injury. His doctor wanted me to take him to the ER to get checked out which we did Monday afternoon. He was fine. Bohdin really liked the doctor and we had the quickest best service ever. I've never seen a doctor that fast ever. We waited in the room for about a minute. I wasn't even done filling out the paperwork before we were discharged.

Here

I watched our neighbor's one year old last Friday. He had a lot of fun with us becuase he thinks Bohdin and Nyla are funny. He laughed when Bohdin held the broom perpendicular to the bed and Nyla fell backward as he lifted the broom. He thought it was funny when Bohdin bounced a huge ball off Nyla's head. He thought it was fun to be bounced on the couch. When we saw him on the landing the other day he was mad that he couldn't come into our house to play. Having three kids wasn't much more work than two. They basically occupied each other while I did a lot of cleaning.

I had to run to the store on Sunday evening for something. Since we were out I thought we could stop somewhere fun. I asked Bohdin where he wanted to go. "Can we go to the toy store near us?" I said that we could go to ToysRUs. Bohdin then said, "Are you glad that I chose the near one instead of NYC? That would have been too far."

We arrived in Colorado yesterday. The plane ride was okay. Bohdin sat still the whole time and played quietly or looked at his Playmobil catalog. Bohdin has a cold and Nyla started feeling sick during the flight. She took a short nap. Bohdin feel asleep just before arriving at Paul's house. He had talked about washing Paul's car. Bohdin likes to wash my car although really it's just his excuse for playing with the hose. He woke up when we arrived and instead of falling back asleep he headed outside to wash the car. Paul gave him a dollar later. Today we will try to go to the toy store so he can see if they have the thing he wants to buy. He keeps changing his mind so I don't know what he'll end up with yet. Playmobil toys are more readily available here since there are more independent toy stores. Being able to walk into a store and see lots of options will be different than just seening it online or in a catalog.

Peep

Nyla has started watching a bit of tv. It's been sort of nice since I get some time to rest while the kids watch a video. Her favorite is Peep. I'm not sure how much she actually watches but she will stay in the room now at least while it is on. Bohdin is really interested in the human body so we checked out a human body dvd at the library. Last night he was telling us about brown fat and electricty in the brain. He seems to learn so much more by watching it on tv than reading about it. We've also checked out multiple books about the human body over the past several weeks. Maybe he doesn't get as much out of the reading because Nyla is always fussing when we try to read. She wants us to read the book she picks out instead and she wants it now.

The weather has turned a bit cooler with highs only in the low 70s. Add in the high humidity and cloud cover and it feels pretty cool here. Bohdin appears to finally regulate his temperature like a normal human being and was cold yesterday. He had goose bumps outside and in the store. He asked for a jacket yesterday. I haven't bought him a jacket since he was two. I was able to force him once at that age to wear one when he went for a walk in a snowstorm. As he grew older it became impossible to make him wear a jacket and every once in a while we could force a sweater on him. It's such a huge change for him. Today he wore a long sleeve shirt with a zip up sweather which last year I would have had to force on him in 20 degree weather.

Bohdin still likes to have us make his Playmobil people talk. He is the knights because they have more weapons and shields. I am the pirates wth swords to his guns. Every time he wants me to battle him. Every times he wins since his people can fly and are invincible. It's become quite repetive. In another shock this week Bohdin took the Playmobil pyramid off his birthday list. This is the toy he couldn't possibly wait more than 5 minutes for this weekend. I think it will make another appearace on his list before his birthday unless it gets bumped for the castle. His people are currently living in the pirate hideout which he will graciously give my people once they upgrade their digs.

Bohdin is currently pushing Nyla across the room in his big dump truck. I love seeing them play together. The other night Nyla said "Bobo" for the first time which is what we've been trying to have her use for Bohdin. Normally she calls Bohdin "dada". It's confusing to have two in the house.

Assuming the position

Buddy had a four day weekend but we didn't have any big plans. He's been so busy at work that he's missed out on some of the stuff here. Friday, Nyla pooped and called out for someone to wipe her butt. Buddy walked in the bathroom to see Nyla bent over with her hands on a stool. He laughed and asked is she was assuming the position. She picked this up from Bohdin who likes to put his hands on the floor when bending over.

We went to N-'s fifth birthday party Thursday evening. It prompted Bohdin to make his birthday list. Initially the list was way too long but he narrowed down his initial list to about five. It has already undergone one revision. Last week there was a toy that Bohdin really wanted and couldn't wait for. He's going to have to wait and I helped him figure out how many weeks of allowance he would need to buy it. He sort of felt better after that but I think that's because he doesn't have a strong sense of time. Ten weeks is almost to his birthday. Bohdin was able to see the Playmobil pyramid at ToysRUs and is in love. It was on his birthday list already but now he's even more excited about it. He's been talking about all of the ways he is going to play with it.

We planned to go to the Maryland Renaissance Festival on Saturday but both the kids were tired that day. Bohdin actually fell asleep at 4pm and slept until 7:30 the next morning. He woke up briefly at 10 for a snack. Sunday he was way more refreshed so we headed to the fairgrounds which are really close. We live closer to the fairgrounds than Target or the mall. The first thing Bohdin saw was a magician who was performing tricks for a group of kids. He went over and watched for a while eventually getting close to the table that was being used. After we had been there for some time the magician used Bohdin for a trick. He put one red foam ball in Bohdin's hand and when he opened his hand there were two balls. This was Bohdin's favorite moment of the fair. Next we stopped at the fight school performance which was a history of weapons. Bohdin tolerated it and Nyla hated it. I left Buddy and took the kids to get some food. We saw a kids pirate show and then walked around a bit more. The last thing we saw was a bit of the archery demonstration. We would have liked to see the whole thing but Nyla was tired and done. Bohdin said he liked everything but the elephant (there were elephant rides there). We might go back to one in a few years when the kids are older. This would be a great spot for a teenage boy because I saw a tremendous amount of breasts, more than I've ever seen before and I've been to Miami beach.

Repeat

I wrote this post earlier but lost it which is very frustrating. I finally have a power cord again. Bohdin was impatient for computer time to look over Playmobil stuff online. He wrote out his birthday list this morning but later we'll have to get rid of some of it because it is just too long. When we went to Radio Shack last week looking for a power cord the employee came out of the back with one in his hand. I knew about how much they should cost since this is our second time purchasing. When he rang up the price I was shocked and said no thanks. As we were walking out of the store Bohdin turned back around to the employee and explained "My mommy doesn't like to buy things that are high prices.".

I was feeling great last week and got right back into the swing of things cooking, cleaning, and playing with the kids. I guess I overdid it because I spent the weekend in bed feeling awful. I was weak, lightheaded, and my legs felt incredibly heavy. This week I'm taking it much easier. When Bohdin asked if he could play with the play flour I said no because I wasn't feeling well enough to clean it up. He said he would do it and mostly he did. Well maybe he did about half of the cleaning. He spent hours playing with it. I had to take Nyla out of the room because she thought it was fun to throw the flour at Bohdin. He was not amused.

Last week we were coming back from the library and Bohdin held the door open for me downstairs like he usually does. This time Nyla scooted back so she could hold the door open also. I pointed this out to Bohdin. He said "I'm teaching her to be nice instead of sad or mad or fighting people all the time.".

Buddy has been really busy at work this week even more than usual. Last night he didn't get home until nearly 10. He leaves for work either as they are getting up or before so they don't see a whole lot of him. One night he was playing with the kids on the bed. The game was jumping on daddy's back then getting thrown over the shoulder and onto the bed. Bohdin would ask for help and Nyla would "rescue" him by jumping on daddy's back. Then she would get thrown down and the cycle would continue. I wanted to take pictures but Nyla decided she was done once the camera was out. She only went up to participate one more time and that was to put her foot on Bohdin's belly. We have had some cooler temps here but it's not nearly cold enough to justify the fleece pants Nyla is wearing. She just really really likes fleece pants. She either wants to be naked or dressed in winter clothes. There is no good between spot for her.
