Papa

Papa worked us hard.  We had a long list of things we wanted to accomplish and barely made a dent.  Some things that were not on the list but needed to be done were also accomplished.  We are all sad to see him go especially Nyla.  She cried a lot.

The last cabinet is in place next to the fridge but the side panels and molding remain on the to do list.

This eyesore of an area was cleaned up and planted with grass seed.  For over a year it was covered in an unruly pile of bricks with weeds growing over it.  Now it looks much better.  Buddy's scrap pile was also cleaned up so our backyard looks a lot less junky than it did before.  It was pretty embarrassing how bad it looked.  The only thing we were missing was a car on blocks.

The fire pit has a lot of new stones and actually looks like a fire pit instead of a pile of burned logs.

The basement floor is complete.  This was the area that took a lot longer than expected.  The ceiling needed to be patched, a new light installed, and a lot of stuff moved.  We need to replace some of the paneling and molding but that will go on a future to do list.

Nyla wanted to throw a surprise party for Papa the night before he left.  It was a last minute idea so we pulled it together as quickly as we could which is obvious from the picture.

Buddy said it would be a relief to get back to work.  It was a hard week of physical labor for him and his dad.  Yesterday he worked on the main floor bathroom getting it ready for inspection.  I would like to have it done before Derby which is possible.  The drywaller came today to give us a quote and he can get to work as soon as the inspector makes his way to our house.  Today Buddy is taking a well deserved break and watching Hunger Games in the theater.  I went this morning while he took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese and now it is his turn.

Thanks for the kind words and hospitality. Tell Nyla I will return (and, of course, she can come see us.) Tell her to keep on dancing!
