Hide and Seek

I'm feeling much better so I was able to take Bohdin and Nyla to the playground for the first time this month. We played hide and seek which both kids thought was fun. Nyla liked one of our hiding spots and was mad when I chose a different one. Bohdin had a hard time finding me and I peeked my head up to see Bohdin and Nyla holding hands walking around looking for me. It was cute. I pulled them back on Bohdin's plasma car. Bohdin got off when we reached the hill and helped me push Nyla up. He wanted to help me so I wouldn't have to do so much work even though I was feeling better. Over the past few weeks he has been really helpful and has been offering to carry things for me "since I'm not all the way better yet". I appreciate the thoughtfulness.

I had my followup appt yesterday with the OBGYN who did the surgery. He was surprised I was looking so well and told me it would be months before I was feeling 100%. I also found out that he was not the OBGYN on call that day. I thought I just lucked out having the head of OBGYN but the ER chief called him in. He said it was the first time he's been called in. He also said that nobody will ever know why or how what happened to me did. I brought up the idea of a case study and he said he would look into it. Buddy thought I was crazy but I think it would be cool to be published as a case study. He sort of dropped the idea of a bleeding disorder since it was retained placenta. I will have to be tested for HIV and hepatitis in a few months because of the blood transfusions.

Our power cord is dead on our computer so I'm at the library. I have very limited time because Nyla is going around trying to make every computer work. I don't think the librarian is pleased.

yeah

Last month as Nana was departing she gave Bohdin and Nyla one dollar each. I'm assuming that she told Bohdin to buy some candy at the store because as we left he told me that he received a dollar but didn't want to buy candy. He was going to save it for something better. A few weeks later he bought Candyland at a garage sale and was happy with the good deal he received. I had this in mind when I revisited the idea of an allowance for Bohdin. While we are not completely sold on the idea we are going to try it out. Bohdin made his first purchase today with his allowance. Playmobil gold of course. I don't know how this will work out but we're going to try. I told him he can no longer ask for candy or popsicles or whatever at the store because he could buy it himself. He said he didn't want that stuff and he would save his money for Playmobil gold. We'll see.

I was asked if Bohdin and Nyla have recovered from my hospital stay. At first I was going to say yes but that's not true. I had a dentist appointment earlier in the month. Bohdin and Nyla chose to stay in the waiting room with the toys and cartoons. I had a cracked filling so I went back yesterday. Nyla came in the room with me. When the chair went backward she covered her eyes and started crying. She nursed during the whole procedure. Bohdin came in and checked on me every two minutes. It was a lot different than last time. This morning Bohdin said he liked me. He went on to tell me that he didn't want to live with anybody else and asked what would happen to him if I died. He started crying. Later he told me he was worried that I would die. Days before the emergency stuff Bohdin asked a lot of questions about death. He wanted to know if and when I would die. He's so sensitive.

Nyla has been talking so much more. Her favorite new word is yeah. Hearing her say it 3000 times annoys me so much that I hope to only say yes from now on. I had no idea it sounded so awful.

Bohdin was cutest as a one year old. His mannerisms and actions were mostly adorable. I told Buddy that Nyla wasn't cute as a one year old. He quickly agreed and said she wasn't cute as a newborn either. I don't think either of us hold out much hope for her as a two year old. We've been cutting back on the night nursing for about the past month. Last night she woke up and had a loud screaming fit. Her crying has somehow increased in intensity which I didn't think was possible. We eventually settled on making cheesy toast. As she munched on her bread I told her she didn't have to be so sad. It's more difficult to understand what she is saying when she is crying. If she wants something to eat she can just ask. Her response was "whoa!".

Nyla tends to get physical when she is mad also especially with Bohdin. Usually he backs away from her. Sometimes he yells at her and sometimes he tries to pacify her. He has never hit her back. I think I'm pretty lucky that Bohdin is so understanding. I can't imagine how loud this place would be if he became mad also.

Hiccups

I had the hiccups yesterday afternoon so I enlisted Bohdin's help. The first thing we tried was some water. The next thing we tried was scaring me. He got under a sheet and pretended to be a ghost. Nyla tried also but they just weren't scary enough. Next I tried being upside down. I hung over the edge of the bed but Bohdin and Nyla decided to do it a different way. Finally we tried water again. Bohdin told me to drink it really slow this time. It worked!

Fast

This week went by really fast and I'm not sure why or how. We did get out of the house a few times but not for long. Bohdin has been watching way too much tv and even he knows it. Last night I told him he couldn't watch tv today until after noon. He didn't even offere a token protest. This morning he played, did some schoolwork, and folded laundry. We're slowly getting back into our old routine. He even taught Nyla how to fold the washcloths which made them both feel important. I liked how Bohdin made up a job for her so she could be included. I don't normally fold the washcloths.

Bohdin discovered it's fun to jump on the couch without the cushion. Nyla joined in. A while ago I was asked to post pictures of the clothes I have made for Nyla. Every dress she's been pictured in this summer I made. She would rather go naked though so lots of pictures show her without anything on.

Bohdin was pretending the tent poles were fishing poles. Nyla joined him in his fishing spot.

Inside stuff

We've been doing a lot of inside stuff this past week since I wasn't going outside. Buddy bought Bohdin a science experiment kit at Cosco which Bohdn has been enjoying.

Exploring for dinosaurs and rocks

Cornstartch and water mixture

Bohdin says you add food coloring, vinegar, baking soda and wait. Then it happens.

All the Gold

I'm still getting increased traffic to this site and I am assuming it's to find out how I'm doing. I'm not better or worse than Wednesday. I'm not feeling as well as when I first came home yet. It's very difficult to take it easy. There are lots of demands and I cannot ignore them all. Nyla is especially persistent. I understand I shouldn't do too much but I don't know how to accomplish that. Enough about me. I guess the kids are still recovering. Yesterday I went to the bathroom and he rushed in wondering where I was. He thought I had left. That's unusual.

Bohdin was looking at his Playmobil catalog yesterday and dictated a story. I tried to explain the editing and revising process to him. I thought I wasn't getting through until he changed one word today. He replaced the word box with the word treasure chest. Apparently he is quite happy with the story. While he was dictating I had him expand on some things while other times I did not. I still need to work on his understanding that the reader will not know what he sees without a description. I of course added all punctuation and paragraph styling to make it easier to read. The words are completely his exactly as told to me. By the way, he doesn't have an ambulance.

All the Gold
by Bohdin Bright

Once upon a time all the food and hay was loaded into the carriage. And all the logs and the hay and eggs. And all of the food here was loaded into the carriage. The statue that was sunk under the ground was picked up by the submarine. And they put it into the ship. And they get to the shore and unloaded it and put it into the carriage. And the dinosaur eggs and all of the gold at the pyramids was loaded into the carriage. All of the gold from the pirate that has a feather on his hat, a flag, and a gold sword was loaded into the carriage. And the rabbits with the carrots and the guinea pigs eating lettuce was loaded into the carriage. And the coal and the freight car goes to the gold mine and the gold mine makes lots and lots and lots of gold.

It's a room and it has a treasure chest with colored rocks. And it has a little gold statue and it comes with a person and a gold sword and a gold helmet too. And it comes with two gold statues. One looks like a person and is wearing a crown and it has a statue that doesn't look like a person and it is on the wall. And it has a gold table too. And it gets loaded into the carriage.

And the dump truck that has a digger thing connected in the middle and it comes with two persons drives.

All the gold went onto the little boat and he rowed it to shore. And the carriage was already there. Both of the containers that looked like this were full of gold and there was a gold airplane. And both of the containers were being loaded. There were people also. And the people that were on the gold airplane would help unload the gold. And the crane picked up ten containers that were big and full of gold all the way to the top but the lids could still fit on. And then they were loaded into the carriage. And the digger was digging up gold and putting it on the dump truck and then it was loaded into the carriage. And the sweeper was full of gold in the back and it had a thing that put it into boxes and then the boxes were loaded into a truck. And then the boxes full of gold went into the carriage. And there was a truck that was bigger. And the driver was using the controls that made the digger things work. And then all of the gold that was in that truck was put into the carriage. And this digger thing I was talking about was digging up gold and putting it into the carriage. And then the suitcases that were full of gold were put onto the gold airplane. And the police were taking the thing that looks like a gold crown that was on top of the machine that had the alarm.

And the ambulance and helicopter were full of gold that were from the hospital. And the helicopter flew over to the carriage and it was loaded up. And the person that swung out of the helicopter that was using a rope that was attached to something that makes it go up and down was holding all of the baskets that were full of gold. And all of the gold just swung out of the baskets into the carriage. All of the boxes that were in the ambulance were loaded into the carriage. And then they were loaded into Bohdin's ambulance. And all of the pieces of Bohdin's Playmobil gold were loaded into Bohdin's ambulance. But all of the gold from the carriage was unloaded. It was put into Bohdin's ambulance. And then the gold from Bohdin's container that holds the Playmobil gold and the gold from Bohdin's ambulance was unloaded and put into a container and the door of it closed. The end.

Goodbye tomatoes

When we checked the mail yesterday we found a letter stating our violation of community rules. We are not allowed to have plants hanging over the balcony rail. Both tomato plants and the squash were breaking the code. Buddy brought both tomato plants indoors. Grandma and Bohdin picked lots of the tiny grape tomatoes from my plant. I think they picked a few from his plant as well. They are now at N-'s house. I don't know what will become of them. Bohdin gave N- harvesting instructions. He wanted him to know that his tomatoes were ready when they were a little bit orange. I suppose we could drive by every few days to take care of them. I don't know if we will.

Grandma has been walking the kids to the nearby grocery store. Yesterday they each came home with a cookie. I asked Bohdin if he had saved some for me. "No. I thought about saving some for Nyla but I didn't decide yes." It's great that he's looking out for his sister but she already had her own cookie. What about mommy? It was very strange for Grandma to get the cookies anyway. We were never allowed such things as children. When she took them tonight they came back with the American cheese in wrappers which Bohdin adores but I rarely buy. Again another product my mom would never ever dream of buying for her own children. Bohdin totally took advantage of her. When he is with me he asks for lots of stuff but knows that only I can put things in the basket or rather have final say of what goes in. When I talked to him about his tonight he knew the rule but thought that when I wasn't there that he was in charge. Apparently he is right because when he goes shopping with anybody else lots of things make their way home.

My absence affected both kids probably but Nyla more than Bohdin. My first night back she clung to me. A piece of paper couldn't have fit between us. Last night was better and tonight may be back to normal. She is still really clingy during the day. Grandma says she does just fine out of the house so that's good. I truly appreciate all of the help I've had. I haven't made food, cleaned, or done much of anything since coming back from the hospital. Buddy still hasn't been back to work although he will most likely go back tomorrow. With two adults in the house replacing me the house looks about the same as it usually does which is slightly on the messy side. The kids don't do anything fun out of the ordinary. It appears I can do the work of two people or they can only do the work of half. Bohdin needed a diversion today so I made him some bubble solution. He calls it overflowing bubbles.
