Bohdin was looking at his Playmobil catalog yesterday and dictated a story. I tried to explain the editing and revising process to him. I thought I wasn't getting through until he changed one word today. He replaced the word box with the word treasure chest. Apparently he is quite happy with the story. While he was dictating I had him expand on some things while other times I did not. I still need to work on his understanding that the reader will not know what he sees without a description. I of course added all punctuation and paragraph styling to make it easier to read. The words are completely his exactly as told to me. By the way, he doesn't have an ambulance.
All the Gold

Once upon a time all the food and hay was loaded into the carriage. And all the logs and the hay and eggs. And all of the food here was loaded into the carriage. The statue that was sunk under the ground was picked up by the submarine. And they put it into the ship. And they get to the shore and unloaded it and put it into the carriage. And the dinosaur eggs and all of the gold at the pyramids was loaded into the carriage. All of the gold from the pirate that has a feather on his hat, a flag, and a gold sword was loaded into the carriage. And the rabbits with the carrots and the guinea pigs eating lettuce was loaded into the carriage. And the coal and the freight car goes to the gold mine and the gold mine makes lots and lots and lots of gold.
It's a room and it has a treasure chest with colored rocks. And it has a little gold statue and it comes with a person and a gold sword and a gold helmet too. And it comes with two gold statues. One looks like a person and is wearing a crown and it has a statue that doesn't look like a person and it is on the wall. And it has a gold table too. And it gets loaded into the carriage.
And the dump truck that has a digger thing connected in the middle and it comes with two persons drives.
All the gold went onto the little boat and he rowed it to shore. And the carriage was already there. Both of the containers that looked like this were full of gold and there was a gold airplane. And both of the containers were being loaded. There were people also. And the people that were on the gold airplane would help unload the gold. And the crane picked up ten containers that were big and full of gold all the way to the top but the lids could still fit on. And then they were loaded into the carriage. And the digger was digging up gold and putting it on the dump truck and then it was loaded into the carriage. And the sweeper was full of gold in the back and it had a thing that put it into boxes and then the boxes were loaded into a truck. And then the boxes full of gold went into the carriage. And there was a truck that was bigger. And the driver was using the controls that made the digger things work. And then all of the gold that was in that truck was put into the carriage. And this digger thing I was talking about was digging up gold and putting it into the carriage. And then the suitcases that were full of gold were put onto the gold airplane. And the police were taking the thing that looks like a gold crown that was on top of the machine that had the alarm.
And the ambulance and helicopter were full of gold that were from the hospital. And the helicopter flew over to the carriage and it was loaded up. And the person that swung out of the helicopter that was using a rope that was attached to something that makes it go up and down was holding all of the baskets that were full of gold. And all of the gold just swung out of the baskets into the carriage. All of the boxes that were in the ambulance were loaded into the carriage. And then they were loaded into Bohdin's ambulance. And all of the pieces of Bohdin's Playmobil gold were loaded into Bohdin's ambulance. But all of the gold from the carriage was unloaded. It was put into Bohdin's ambulance. And then the gold from Bohdin's container that holds the Playmobil gold and the gold from Bohdin's ambulance was unloaded and put into a container and the door of it closed. The end.

That is a very good story, Bohdin! It sounds very exciting. Mommy and Daddy must be very proud of your imagination. Can you make up a story using the following words and phrases: silver, jewels, crown, goose that lays golden eggs, giant, and very berry-licious smoothie?

Nyla doesn't take excuses. In fact here she comes now. Yep. Not working. The kids are also recovering from this and they want more time with me. It's tough to balance.
You can still reassure, cuddle, spend time with them, just do it while you are in a resting position. Nyla can understand with enough repetition (and maybe a few tantrums). You have to be the one in charge as they do not understand the gravity of the situation. You need to be "selfish" here for a little while or it will take much longer to recover.
That was one big carriage to fit all that gold! I am glad to hear that you are recovering and glad to hear that you have some help. Rest up if you can (I know that's easier said than done).
